Linguistic words or phrases that make me cringe:
- anyways
- how comes
- leaving out the infinitive "to be" as in "My car needs washed"
- This doesn't bother me as much, but my buddy Mike goes nuts whenever anyone says something is ironic, since 90+% of the time they are using the word incorrectly, which I, of course, find ironical.

another [fairly innocuous, really] Oneonta-ism that has bothered me my whole life; (like, I remember complaining about it when I was in 1st grade:) the use of 'over to'. "Where's Kate? Oh, she's over to Mary's house."
Also, when people say 'up' instead of 'away': "If you put that toy up, you can have dessert." -Must require TONS of elevated storage space.
also:
realtor prounounced "real-A-tor"
and "orientated" (tho I have since found that this is technically correct. Still sounds awful. :-))
oh, and the pervasive apostrophe: "We have six dog's for sale."
"supposably"
"ekspecially"
Isn't this just beating a dead horse in the mouth?
What's all this about a dead horse?! That sounds fermiliar. I hope he didn't drownd in the river, or get killed by a evil demond! I bet they'd let you keep one of his horseshoes as a special momento of your time together.
